Andy, what do you use in the studio?
Thanks for asking the question. This might help others to get going… Takemine Ltd 97 semi electric guitar, Roland KR-350 electric piano, Apple Logic Pro 9 recording software, Macbook Pro laptop, MBOX 2 Mini USB audio interface, Rode M3 microphone, Samson PS101 pop shield, Tannoy 501A monitors.
The Takemine has a really sweet sound, Logic Pro 9 is so easy and powerful to use, the Macbook pro has dual processors and with the MBOX 2 mini can handle a lot of tracks, and with the laptop, I’m not confined to the studio! I used 60 tracks to create Find Another Dream and the vocals were recorded in a cottage in France. The Rode M3 mic is not that expensive but packs quite a sound. I use it for lead / backing vocals, guitar and hand percussion. The Tannoy monitors give quite a good stereo reference. In terms of mastering, I use a company called Luna Sound Mastering Service, they’ re great and not too expensive. Both Find Another Dream and Find A Reason were mastered with them. If you’ve got any questions, just post a reply to this blog – Andy x
